My question

To what extent do the female characters in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ and ‘SALT’ challenge traditional female stereotypes?

In this film there are many different things that females are presented as. For example, in the dark knight Anne Hathaway is presented and seen as a cold-hearted, sexual young woman. She is a dark character that  has to be seen as sexy and young and has to fight and so she has to be a strong woman. In SALT again Angelina jolie is presented as a strong, feisty, young, woman. This is because as her role she had to do violence and use her strength. These are not typical and traditional stereotypes of women as women are seen as caring, kind, emotional, mature etc. Anne and Angelina have changed people minds about this. Having a complete opposite to what females are is a change to what the world believes. Women are seen as strong, independent people. Having this representation can be good as woman can be seen as strong and independent like men. Males are seen as more dominant characters as they are seen to have violent, masculine traits. These are things that you don't normally see in women but the Dark knight and SALT have changed many people views.

MM34- Men act and women appear in their eyes as women are seen as objects most of the time. They say that women watch as they are being looked at by men. This makes it look like they like the attraction that they see when they are being admired by them.

They say that women were seen as second class citizens and that they were wanting to rebel against men. This was because men were being given  a 15% more paid than women that made women think that they didn't matter and dint have a say.

there were many things that kept happening that made them think this like men getting better grades than women in O-levels, seeming as the most dominant character in bond films and seeing to have a say in more things than women did. Women are mostly seen as sexual objects. This does cause allot of issues as women wouldn't like to be seen in these ways but to be seen as equals. When bond films were released it was the time were men and females were acted the same sort of as they both had dominant roles in the films.
Even though there has been a change in women over the past years and there values and what they see and want to hear.
that's why there are many feminism women around as they believe in many things like this for that to happen.happen. There are still some stereotypes as being a woman as they are mainly seen to be in the kitchen, have kids, be a good wife etc. As times have changed things are still going in the same way but still very different.

MM50- The female gaze is that many people think that models and people that are seen in T.V should be sizes 0-2. These are models that very skinny and tall and have a strict diet to maintain their image and weight throughout their career. The modelling industry used to make sure their models would be sizes 0-2. But nowadays there have been problems that made women think that all sizes should be taken into account and they should be on the runway or catwalk. Sizes are mainly from 6-24. These are sizes of many different people. The most common size in the UK are 14 and that's medium to large size. Women think that it shouldn't matter what size you are just that we should be seen as equal and we are beautiful people.

MM43- Juno was a film that sparked alot of controversy around the public of teenagers. This was a young teen who falls pregnant with her best friend as the father and they are friends and she has to decide to give up the baby or abort the child. This teen was quite up-tight, naive and a rebel which showed she was quite independent and didn't want to rely on anyone. Women are represented here as independent and strong people as looking and caring after another life inside them and wants to be a strong woman. They had to make a life-changing decision that the audience saw and sparked controversy about ity as it can be a real-life situation.
